T7 promoter

  • A promoter is a DNA sequence that plays a crucial role in initiating the process of transcription. It serves as a binding site for RNA polymerase and transcription factors, guiding the enzyme to the correct location on the DNA to start RNA synthesis. Promoters are located upstream of the gene they regulate and help determine when, where, and how much a gene is expressed. They are essential for gene regulation, ensuring that genes are transcribed only in the appropriate conditions or cell types.
